Porridge in Malacca~~~

My cousins brought us to a restaurant (I forget de name) to have porridge for supper. It was almost 11pm and the restaurant is still full with people.

porridge...

We ordered a few variety of porridge (single portion) to try. Ended up... the single portion is so big that can actually serve 3 people. No choice... We still have to finish it.

minced pork porridge...

fish porridge...

salted egg porridge...

My cousin brother ordered fried kuey tiew. They actually add an raw egg on top of it and the customer will mix the kuey tiew and raw egg together. This makes the texture of the kuey tiew smooth and nice.

kuey tiew...

We also order a few dishes to go with the porridge...

fried fish with spring onion & ginger...

beans with prawns...

kong bo prawn mantis...

It was a simple but delicious supper.

I'll make sure I get the name of the restuarant when I take a trip down to Malacca again.

Restaurant Room Eighteen~~~

Baby's brother came back from Perth for holiday. So all of us together wif his mum and friends went to the new Restaurant Room Eighteen in Tropicana City Mall to have dinner.

restaurant room eighteen...

Restaurant Room Eighteen is another restaurant by the Tai Thong Groups, offering Chinese cuisine prepared by skilful Hong Kong and Guangzhou chefs.

open kitchen...

I find the environment here is quite good. Mayb bcoz is still newly open. We ordered 6 dishes and each have their own bowl of soup.

the menu...

There's not many dishes in the menu. Most of those listed are for ala carte. So there arent many choices for us.

When we ordered chinese tea, they dun serve in a pot here. They come in a glass with the types of tea we choose. Abit weird rite?

my glass of tea...

There are 8 of us and we were quite 'shocked' when all the dishes came out. The portion of all the food are so small. The fish, the veges... All oso small. I think if only me and baby, we can finish all the dishes ourselves.

1) 6 combinations

6 combinations...

2) Omelette...

3) Fried fish...

fried fish...

4) Sour & Spicy Soup...

This suppose to be my favourite soup. But sad to say... This soup tasted quite terrible. Is not sour but sweet and is too spicy. Is like drinking diluted Thai Chili sauce.

sour & spicy soup...

5) Lotus root soup...

This soup tasted not too bad. But... I feel quite thirsty after dinner. I guess... ajinomoto which makes the soup so tasty.

6) Steam vegetable with oyster sauce...

steam vegetable...

The bill came out to be... erm... VERY EXPENSIVE for that few small portion of dishes.

Well, I have a bad impression with this restaurant now. Hopefully there are changes in the future to make me change my mind. If not, I dun think I'll try the food there anymore.

Lunch in Johor~~~

During my trip in Johor, baby's dad bring us out for Curry Noodle. This curry noodle stall starts business from 11am and by 2-3pm, the noodles will be finish selling.

the stall...

Usually customers have to take a number and wait for their turn to order. But... I guess Im lucky tat day. We didnt need to wait for a number and the noodles are served within 10 minutes.

Besides this curry noodle stall, there are other stalls inside the restaurant and all the food are delicious.

Here come our curry noodle. *yumm yumm*

Well, Im quite picky when comes to curry noodle. Til now, the only curry noodle stall I prefer is the 1 near my house in Taman Tun Dr Ismail. But... That day, I've found another delicious curry noodle in Johor.

I have to agree with baby's dad that this is quite a famous curry noodle stall around Johor.

The soup is not too 'santan'. The ingredient is ok. The amount is more than enough. Only 1 word to describe... DELICIOUS~!!!

my bowl of curry noodle...

I didnt managed to taste another bowl of curry noodle before I leave Johor because the stall opens at 11am and I left before that. Will try it the nex trip... :D

Ah Yat Abalone Forum Restaurant~~~

Last Sunday was Winter Solstice '冬至'. To celebrate this special day, me and baby together with his family went to Ah Yat Abalone Forum Restaurant at Seksyen 13, Petaling Jaya for lunch.

This is not the 1st time I visited this place. I can tell you... The services are quite satisfactory. They responded quickly to your needs.

We ordered a set menu which cost RM468++ for 6 person.

Beside different varieties of dishes, they also served dim sum in the morning. Therefore, it is alwiz full with people.

We order char-siew and siew-yuk for appetizer...

2nd dish... Braised Shark's Fin with Shredded Fish Maw & Chicken...

Restaurant Yong Tou Foo Chan Chan~~~

Usually people will go to Ampang to have Yong Tou Foo, but not many shops are open at nite (I think~!).

We managed to find 1 restaurant that sell Yong Tou Foo here in Manjalara, Kepong - Restaurant Yong Tou Foo Chan Chan. This restaurant is just beside Restaurant Seafood Soon Heong and opposite Restaurant Seafood Shiang Hee.

restaurant yong tou foo chan chan...

The restaurant is usually quite full house during dinner time. Almost all the tables were occupied.

The waiter passed us a list with many types of 'yong' stuffs - lady finger, chili, brinjal, bitter gourd (I hate the most), tou foo, fried foo chuk, fried wanton, etc......

list of food...

After we placed the order, only we noticed it is Rm1 per piece. Hhmm... RM1 per piece is consider expensive oh. From wat I noe, other stalls usually sell around RM0.70-RM0.80 per piece. Well, just wait til we see the size of the 'yong' stuffs den only we can decide whether will this be our first and last time visiting here. Haha~!!!

Besides the 'yong' stuffs, there are oso others dishes like assam fish, vinegar pork leg, hakka char yuk, etc......

Here comes our food......

assam kembong fish...

vinegar pork leg...

brinjal & fried foo chuk...

dumpling soup...

all the 'yong' stuffs...

The size of each 'yong' stuffs are quite big, worth the money. But... to me, the soup is abit too salty. I drank quite alot of water that nite... Overall I can say... We will come back again. Hehe~!!!

We waited for... erm... around 20 minutes... and... *ta da*... Here comes our 'pun-choi'~!

Let me list down all the different variety of ingredient in this 'pun-choi'...
1) 1/2 Fat kampung chicken '菜园肥鸡'
2) 1/2 Roast duck '脆皮烧鸭'
3) 12 Salt & pepper prawns '椒盐大虾'
4) 1 Fish stuffed with mince meat '家乡釀马友鱼'
5) Sea cucumber '海参'
6) Steam pork slice '卤花肉'
7) Fish bladder '鱼漂'
8) Small abalone '珍珠鲍贝'
9) Chicken feet '鸡脚'
10) Pork leg '猪脚'

My mother use to tell me the food she eats when she was young... One of it that I remembered the most is noodle/rice mixed with pork oil '猪油捞面/猪油捞饭'. After tasted it tat nite, I totally understand why my mum and uncle can have 3-4 bowls of rice with just pork oil. Is so delicious... *yumm yumm*

After dinner, they served us with some fresh fruits...

After the dinner, all of us are so full... And poor me... Stil have to go work tat nite... *sob sob*

To me, 'pun-choi' is a dish that you tried it once, you wont wanna tried it again or maybe within 6 months. Why??? Well... Is not tat 'pun-choi' is not delicious. Is just tat... You mix everything together, it will become so oily... Plus all the chicken/duck/pork meat... OMG~!!! High cholesterol~!!!!!!
